LASPEMA,CALLS FOR STOPPAGE OF WORK ON BUILDING UNDER HIGH TENSION WIRE.

In line with its avowed commitment to provide a well planned physical environment for the populace.,the Lagos State government, through the State Planning and Environment Monitoring Authority {LASPEMA},has called for immediate stoppage of an on-going building construction work under high tension wires in order to forestall future disaster. The Acting General Manager of LASPEMA,Enginner Olanrewaju Kazeem made the call during a working tour of Idimuu,in Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area of the state, where he discovered an on-going construction work under two 330KVA high tension wires at Oladun Road, off Ikotun Road,Council Bus stop.He said the call became imperative because of the immediate need to protect the lives of the people as well as reclaim the site which had previously been under government acquisition for physical and environmental sustainability.According to him ''It is regrettable that building on this site had earlier been demolished to discourage the developers as well as subsequent ejection of all illegal occupants. But the site again is presently being occupied by new set of people who have also disregarded the setback rules for high tension wires. This leaves us with no choice but to call on the authorities concerned with physical developments to immediately take appropriate actions against the culprits in line with the stipulated rules and regulations governing physical development in the state''.Engr Kazeem however enjoined all stakeholders in the built environment to always follow due process in building construction to ensure that the lives of fellow residents are not endangered because such unethical practice could lead to avoidable fire disaster, loss of properties and untimely death. The LASPEMA boss also vowed that the officers of the Agency will intensify their regular monitoring across the state, especially in the Idimu area until all developers are willing to comply with the standard rules and regulations in the building process. One more photo below.
