Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. The National portrait Gallery of which the Duchess is a Patron,has collaborated with British Vogue on a series of photographic portraits,shot by photographer Josh Olins in the Norfolk countryside.Two of the photographic portraits of The Duchess will be available for public view in Vogue 100:A Century of style from Sunday May 1.The full portfolio shoot will feature in the June centenary issue of British Vogue,available on news stands and to download on Thursday 5 May.A spokesperson for the Duchess said ''Since 1916,Vogue has been a leading champion of British portraiture.The Duchess was delighted to play a part in celebrating the centenary of an institution that has given a platform to some of the most renowned photographers in this country's history.She is incredibly grateful to the team at Vogue and at the NPG for asking her to take part''.Two of the images from the British Vogue shoot were installed this evening in the National Portrait Gallery's Vogue 100:A Century of Style.The Duchess will visit the exhibition on wednesdy 4 May and see the two portraits on display in the gallery for the first time''.More photos below.
