 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).   The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).   To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.   The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry.   Eyesan, a graduate of Economics f...

EFCC CLOSES MONEY LAUNDERING CASE AGAINST EX-GOVERNOR OF NASARAWA STATE 'AKWE DOMA',YESTERDAY.{PHOTOS}

                                           The trial of a former governor of Nasarawa State,Aliyu Akwe Doma,and two others,continued on June 23,2016,with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,presenting its ninth witness,as it  closed its case against the accused persons.Akwe Doma,alongside Timothy Anthony Anjide,a former Secretary to the State Government,and Dauda Egwa,a former Accountant-General,are being prosecuted by the EFCC on a 10-count charge bordering on money laundering and financial crimes.The accused persons between January 2007 and December 2009 allegedly conspired and fraudulently laundered state funds to the tune of N8bn,an offence contrary to Section 14 {1} {a} of the Money Laundering {Prohibition } Act 2004 and punishablee under section 14 {1} of the same Act.At yesterday's hearing,PW 9,Abdulrazaq Salawu,an operative with the EFCC,told the court how he met the defendants,following different petitions and intelligence report received by the Commission.Led in evidence by Kemi Pinheiro,SAN,Salawu told the court that the investigation was carried out to establish the veracity of the allegations against the defendants.More photos below.
