STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA. The EFCC yesterday thursday,July 28,2016,arraigned the former Coordinator of Afikpo South Local Government Development Center of Ebonyi state,Hon. Ugwuocha Okorafor,his Treasurer,Christian Chukwu Owo and the Administrative Officer,Mrs Anne Eke Agwu,before Justice E.A Ngene of the State High Court,Afikpo,Ebonyi State,on a 15 {Fifteen} count charge of conspiracy and stealing of public funds totalling over N25,000,000.00 {Twenty Five Million Naira Only}.Okoroafor and his alleged co-conspiratorts were said to have at various times between 2013 and 2015 raised vouchers for payments ranging from contract awards,salaries and independence day celebrations in the names of staff of the development centre who denied ever authorized such vouchers nor received such funds.Investigation into the matter which was reported by Center for Prevention of Corruption and Human Right Initiatives and some staff of the development centre revealed that the accused persons padded their salaries and that of other staff above the approved limits with the connivance of a staff of the bank where the local Government is domiciled.The sum of N16,000,000 and N8,000,000 were at different times traced to the accused person's account which upon interrogation,they could not justify the source.
