 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. EFCC SECURED A CONVICTION TODAY AGAINST A HERBALIST,WHO WAS ACCUSED OF SWINDLING N6.3 MILLION FROM A CLIENT.{PHOTOS}.

           The EFCC,today friday July 1,2016 secured the conviction of Lekan Arigbabuwo to one year imprisonment in a case of conspiracy and stealing before Justice Lawal Akapo of Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja.Arigbabuwo was arrested by the operatives of EFCC following a petition by Ogundele Oluwatoba who claimed the convict stole and conspired to swindle him of N6.3 million by posing as a herbalist,an offence punishable under section 409 of Criminal Code,Cap.A452 No. 11,Laws of Lagos State 2011 and under section 285 of Criminal Code,Cap A 410 No.11,Laws of State,2011.Arigbabuwo who was arraigned on 3 counts charge,later changed his non guilty plea to guilty under a plea bargain arrangement.More photos below.
