 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).   The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).   To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.   The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry.   Eyesan, a graduate of Economics f...

LAND GRABBING IS SET TO BECOME A CRIMINAL OFFENCE IN LAGOS STATE.{READ}.

                       Activities of land grabbers and speculators in Lagos State will son be under permanent check as members of the State House of Assembly has,at its plenary on tuesdsy,passed a bill which seeks to criminalize what has come to be known as' land grabbing' into Law.The bill,which was passed after the third reading,prohibits forceful entry and illegal occupation of landed properties;violent and fraudulent conduct in relation to landed properties in Lagos State and for connected purposes and has duly been sent to the Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode for his assent.YThe Speaker LAHA,Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa in his submission stated that the passage of the bill into law will give sanction to any individual who is culpable of the offence.In a related development,a bill for a law to create and exhibit sporting activities has scaled through the second reading.Hon. Adedamola Kasumu representing Ikeja Constituency II,while reading the bill on the floor of the House,said the bill seeks to establish and formulate sport policy in the State and it would create opportunity to give support financially to schools and clubs.He said,the bill when passed into Law,will also regulate and supervise sporting activities and committees at Local Government levels; engage the youths and empower the Sport Commission to inaugurate and regulate committees.Hon. Agunbiade who contributed to the merits of the bill said that ''I see this bill coming to strengthen sporting activities in the State''.The Speaker, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa however ruled that the bill should be sent to the House Co,,ittee on Youths Sports and Social Development for detailed examination and deliberation.
