NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. It was reported today that Malawi authorities have arrested a man who featured on BBC as being involved in initiation ceremonies meant to ''cleanse' young girls by having sex with them.The arrest order is reported to have come from the country's President Peter Mutharrika.Eric Aniva had been featured by the news agency as being a 'hyena',a nickname to refer to persons who engages in the practice.He revealed that he was HIV positive,but despite that,he had slept with more than 100 young girlsThe sex cleansing practice is a traditional custom endorsed and funded by some communities in southern Malawi but the government has been trying to stop it.The BBC reports the director of communication at State House Bright Molande as saying that the president was disturbed by the revelations made in the story and has vowed to crackdown on the cultural practice.
