 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. EX-EBONYI COMMISSIONER,ARRESTED YESTERDAY OVER N83M BRIBERY ALLEGATION.{READ}.

                                The EFCC on monday August 15,2016,arrested a former Commissioner for Public Utilities in Ebonyi State,Engineer Benjamin Ogbonnaya Okah,for alleged abuse of office and collecting gratificaation to the tune of N83 million.The arrest was sequel to a petition by the Ebonyi State government over the $12 million contract to a US based company Califco Group that had been abandoned since 2012,despite a mobilization of $10.8 million already paid by Ebonyi State Government into the accounts of the said company.Investigation has revealed that both the Abuja and Ebonyi state addresses of the said company are fictitous.In the course of investigation,it was discovered that the former Commissioner allegedly collected gratification from the company in the sum of N83 million between July 30,2012 and December 30,2014,through his companies:.Global Victory Allied Company and Mahco Mega Nigeria Limited.Investigation in this matter continues.
