LAGOS ISLAND LOCAL GOVT,PROVIDED FINANCIAL SUPPORT,FOOD ITEMS & FREE HEALTH CARE FOR THE ELDERLY.

                   The Sole Administrator for the Lagos Island Local Government,Hon. Nosirudeen Akanbi Musa has continued the initiative of his predecessor by providing financial support,food items and free health care for the elderly tagged Aged Programme.Speaking during the 12th edition of the event,Hon Musa said the programme was an avenue his predecessor used to fulfil the electioneering campaign promises as well as showing support and love to the elderly and youth through worthwhile poverty alleviation programmes.Hon. Musa pointed out that beneficiaries of the programme had increased from 250 at inception to 400 persons and implored all youths to cultivate the habit of showing affection,love and support to the aged around them,urging them to treat the elderly with patience,pay them visits from time to time and monitor their blood pressure frequently in order to prevent any health crisis.While attributing the cause of many diseases to unhealthy diet,Alhaji Nosiru appealed to everyone to always be mindful of the food they eat,noting that this would help reduce the number of health issues and prevent sickness among all and sundry.In her remarks,the Lagos State First lady,Mrs Bolanle Ambode,represented by Mrs Sola Obasanya,said it has become imperative to cater for the aged people through the poverty alleviation programmes of the government at all levels in the State.She also pleaded with the young ones not to abandon their parents at old age but to keep in touch with them often,adding that by so doing it would be easier to monitor their well-being.
