 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. EFCC ARRAIGNS EDO DEPUTY GOVERNOR'S BROTHER FOR N9.3 MILLION FRAUD.{PHOTO}.

                                                   The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,yesterday monday October 17,2016,arraigned one Joseph Ovbokhan Odubu and his company,Even Handed Services Limited before Justice P.I Ajooku of the Federal High Court,sitting in Benin,Edo State on a 3 count charge bordering on forgery,uttering and obtaining money by false presence to the tune of Nine Million Three Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira {N9,360,000.00}.Though when the charges where read to him,he pleaded not guilty.In view of his plea,the prosecution counsel,C.A okoli asked the court to fix a date for the commencement of trial and that the accused person be remanded in prison custody.However,counsel to the defendant,Osama Idehen made an oral application for bail which was refused by the court as she was asked to file a formal application.Justice Ajoku adjourned the case to November 22,2016 for trial and ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody.
