 Zambia president approves law expanding parliament months before election Zambia's President Hakainde Hichilema on Thursday signed into law constitutional changes that will expand the country's parliament, Reuters reported. The changes increase the number of members of parliament to around 280 from 167 currently by creating more constituencies, reserving 40 new seats for women, youth and people with disabilities, and allowing the president to appoint 11 members instead of eight previously. Hichilema, who will run for a second presidential term in the August 2026 election, said during a signing ceremony that the changes were being made in good faith and there was adequate consultation. He previously argued that some constituencies were too big for effective service delivery and should be split into smaller ones. Image result for buhari                                        Buhari made the call today thursday at the 7th National Prayer Breakfast organised by National Assembly in Abuja with the theme ''A tree and its fruits: is yours a blessing or a curse to Nigeria''.The president was represented at the occasion by the Secretary to Government of the Federation,Mr Babachir Lawal.Buhari assured Nigerians that the recession would end very soon as the government is doing all within its power to restore the economy of the country.He said ''As Christians and political leaders,we must strive to be the light of the world by speaking positively concerning the state of the nation.These hard times we are in,require leaders have forgotten to look at the positive side of issues and the opportunity it presents for the good of all.I have total faith that Nigeria will emerge from this crisis strong,united and prosperous,this will come to fruition in the lifetime of this government.Also as Christians and leaders we should all thank God for the opportunity to be key player in this time of economic meltdown,'' Lawal admonished.
