NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges. A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters and two H-125 helicopters. The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. Yesterday at about 9.45pm a suspects female suicide bomber attempted to enter the military location in Yamtake,Gwoza Local Government Area,Borno State but a vigilant sentry on duty gunned her down and she died instantly.The failed suicide bombing attack was followed up with futile probing attack by terrorists which was decisively dealt with by the troops.The troops killed all the 4 attackers including 2 suicide bombers and recovered 2 AK-47,3 Magazines,109 rounds of 7.62mm {Special},1 Torchlight,1 Water bottle,3 Magazine carrier,1 illuminator pyrotecnic and some quantity of drugs.Unfortunately,we lost a soldier in the process.More photos below.
