BENUE BOOSTS CHILD PROTECTION WITH GRADUATION OF 60 UNICEF-BACKED SOCIAL WORKERS Benue State has taken a major step toward strengthening child protection and social welfare services with the graduation of 60 Auxiliary Social Workers (ASWs) trained to serve vulnerable children and families at the grassroots. The graduation ceremony, held on Wednesday, marked the successful completion of a programme jointly supported by the Benue State Government, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Benue State Bureau for International Cooperation and Development (BICD). The Kaduna State Executive Governor,Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai,yesterday commended the Nigerian Army under the leadership of Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai,for its professionalism and dedication to duty.The governor made the commendation when he paid courtesy call on the Chief of Army Staff {COAS},Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.Speaking further,he said that if not for the timely intervention of the Army,the problem of insecurity in Southern part of Kaduna State could have been worst.He also eulogized the Army for decimating Boko Haram terrorists and routing them out of their stronghold at Sambisa forest,describing it as unprecedented.Governor El-Rufai,applauded the efforts of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army in tackling cattle rustlings,kidnappings and other forms of criminalities in the State and appealed to the Army authority to establish more formations in Southern Kaduna,Birnin Gwari and Anchau.Responding,the COAS,Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai,thanked Governor El-Rufai for the visit,stressing that the Nigerian Army would continue to discharge its duties according to the Constitutional provision.He further disclosed that the President had approved the NA 2016 Order of Battle to establish Army units in some parts of the State.
