 Zambia president approves law expanding parliament months before election Zambia's President Hakainde Hichilema on Thursday signed into law constitutional changes that will expand the country's parliament, Reuters reported. The changes increase the number of members of parliament to around 280 from 167 currently by creating more constituencies, reserving 40 new seats for women, youth and people with disabilities, and allowing the president to appoint 11 members instead of eight previously. Hichilema, who will run for a second presidential term in the August 2026 election, said during a signing ceremony that the changes were being made in good faith and there was adequate consultation. He previously argued that some constituencies were too big for effective service delivery and should be split into smaller ones. Some opposition politicians have criticised the move to increase the number of members of parliament at a time when the country is still emerging from a protracted debt...

PRESS RELEASE: 7 DIVISION PARTNERS YOLA DISTRIBUTION COMPANY FOR METERING OF BARRACKS.{PHOTOS}.

Image may contain: 2 people                 7 Division Nigerian Army has opened dialogue with Yola Electricity Distribution Company for effective metering of barracks within its Area of Responsibility [AOR} in line with Army Headquarters directive.
The Acting General Army,Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu brainstormed on modalities for the metering with the Yola Electricity Distribution Company's Area Head {North 1},Zainab Hassan and Marketing Manager,Adamu Auta as well as Abubakar Ahmed Officer in Charge of Military Accounts at the Headquarters 7 Division,Maimalari Cantonment,Maiduguri.
The GOC noted that Yola Electricity Distribution Company has been a major stakeholder in the generation and distribution of power since restoration of Maiduguri into the national grid.He recalled the Army Headquarters directive on metering of all barracks across the country to get a near accurate estimation of power consumption and reduction of electricity bills.He therefore urged the company to hasten the metering of barracks within the Division's AOR.
 The leader of the team,Zainab Hassan thanked the GOC for the fruitful deliberation and reception accorded her team.She assured of the Company's plan to meter all customers as already captured in its 2017 budget.She pledged to work assiduously with 7 Division Engineers to actualize the metering of the barracks within short period.
