 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo. Minister of State for Aviation; Alhaji Lai Mohammed,Hon .Minister of Information & Culture; Mr Akin Olateru,Commissioner/CEO,Accident Investigation Bureau and Group Captain John Ojikuti {rtd},Secretary General,Aviation Round Table at an interactive session between ART members and the Ministers today Monday.Minister of State for Aviation Hadi Sirika said  in the Aviation Round Table ''In the next couple of days the work at the runway will be three weeks and I'm confident that we will meet up with the six weeks deadline.Let me make it clear here that there is no committee constituted for the extension of Abuja airport closure''.Lai Mohammed said ''This is not true.The six weeks time line for the closure remains.After six weeks,the Abuja airport will be reopened .The remaining work on the runway will not necessitate the closure of the airport.Let me use this opportunity to debunk the erroneius report making the rounds that the closure of the Abuja airport has been extended by 18 weeks.We lay no claims to perfection.That's why we are here to meet with experts.We are ready to listen to them on what other measures they think we can put in place to make the operations in Kaduna smoother and,in the long run,to avoid this kind of total airport shutdown in the future.Transportation from Abuja to Kaduna and vice versa is free for air passengers,security along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway is such that there is a presence of security agents at short intervals,the expressway itself has been rehabilitated to ensure a smooth ride and,I can tell you,having travelled on that road at least twice since the relocation,that the ride is smooth,plus the safety and security of passengers at the Kaduna airport are paramount and guaranteed,as have been attested to by many''.More photos below.
