STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,may soon arraign one Ogunrinde Olushola Kayode and his co-travellers before a court of competent jurisdiction for allegedly defrauding one Ikechukwu Onita of over N70 million naira.The suspect and his co-travellers allegedly approached Onita under the guise of being men of God,soothsayers and narrated to him his life challenges and predicaments which coincidentally corresponds to the situation and circumstances of his life at that time.Worried about the revelations about him,the suspects convinced Onita that he could help him find solution to his problem.This led to the Onita travelling with them to Agbowa village in Ogun State where he was introduced to one Baba who further made startling revelations about him.Onits was allegedly hypnotised by the suspect which led to him paying money into the bank accounts of Ogunrinde Olushola Kayode and one Ojo Dada Lawrence at different occasion amounting to N70 million.The suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is completed.
