
The Lagos State Government has said that nineteen new monuments that are presently being constructed simultaneously in different areas across the State would soon be unveiled to further boost the aesthetic landscape of the State,adding that the new monuments as well as existing ones would further place the State on global tourism scene and the hub of Africa tourism.The State Acting Commissioner for Tourism,Arts and Culture,Mrs Akinsola Adebimpe stated this at Alausa,during the ongoing Ministerial Press briefing to commemorate the second year in office of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as well as commemorate the 50 years landmark of Lagos State.According to her,the State government places much importance on the sustenance of the cultural and historical heritage of the people of Lagos State as a way of attracting tourists into the State,hence the erection of monuments that would attract the necessary attention from visitors.The Commissioner said that the vision of the Ambode-led administration is,in addition to being a tourism hub,to make the State one of the top ten preferred destinations for tourism and entertainment in the continent.''In line with the vision of the State government,the Ministry of Tourism,Arts and Culture have formulated a project called T.H.E.S.E {Tourism,Hospitality Entertainment and Sport} to achieve excellence and also generate economic returns to the State.This to a greater extent necessitated the innovation added to the annual One Lagos Fiesta,official launch of the One Lagos Logo,the Lagos Street Party and the allocation of adequate attention to tourism and entertainment in the going celebration of Lagos at 50'' the Commissioner stated.More photos below.
