Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. The young man pictured above simply identified as Emmanuel,has been left blinded in both eyes after a member of his community identified as Wike Ugonna allegedly attacked him with acid during a land dispute at their village in Atani in Ogbaru local government area of Anambra State on May 10th,2017.According to reports,Emmanuel's family had approached Wike's family to use a part of a land they use for farming in their community but the Wike's family turned down their request.This created a friction between both families.On the day of the attack,Emmanuel was said to be working on another person's farmland whenWike approached him and allegedly poured acid on him and also cut him with a machete.Wike is currently on the run.More photos below.
