 AGF to Meet Senate Panel on Tax Reform Bills Today The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), is set to meet with the Senate today (Thursday) to review the Tax Reform Bills submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly. Amid controversy surrounding the bills, especially from the North, President Tinubu had urged for calm and directed the AGF to engage with the National Assembly to resolve the issues. In response, the Senate established a panel to meet with the AGF. Although the meeting had been delayed due to changes in the Senate panel's membership and caucus discussions, a source from the Ministry of Justice confirmed that the meeting will proceed today. Senator Abba Moro, Chairman of the Senate Special Committee, also confirmed that both the AGF and Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, have been invited to the session. SUSPECTED RITUALISTS WERE ARRESTED IN AN UNCOMPLETED BUILDING YESTERDAY AT ONDO STATE.{PHOTOS}.

Image result for rituals den in ondo state                According to sources,an uncompleted two storey building believed to be a den of kidnappers and ritualists was yesterday monday 26th of June 2017 discovered in Alagbaka of Akure in Ondo state.The building is located a few meters away from the Ondo State House of Assembly and it is behind the popular government owned events centre,the Gani Fawehinmi Arcade.The building is said to be owned by a retired civil servant in the state.The discovery was made by the residents of the area who suspected that some men were always inside the building performing numerous secret activities on a daily basis.Another source is claiming that the building has been abandoned for a long time and many residents of the area did not know the owner.He said ''The suspects thought the gunshot was from the policemen who came for them.They quickly rushed out,but some commercial motorcycle riders in the area helped us to chase and arrest four of them,whom we later handed over to the police''.The source further added that it was the timely intervention of policemen that saved the suspects from being lynched by the angry residents of the area.Reacting to the shocking discovery,the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer,Mr Femi Joseph,said many suspects have been arrested in connection with the matter.Joseph said,''We have arrested quite a number of them and we are currently interrogating them.It is after the interrogation and investigation that we can conclude whether they are ritualists or not''.More photos below.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
