 BENUE BOOSTS CHILD PROTECTION WITH GRADUATION OF 60 UNICEF-BACKED SOCIAL WORKERS  Benue State has taken a major step toward strengthening child protection and social welfare services with the graduation of 60 Auxiliary Social Workers (ASWs) trained to serve vulnerable children and families at the grassroots. The graduation ceremony, held on Wednesday, marked the successful completion of a programme jointly supported by the Benue State Government, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Benue State Bureau for International Cooperation and Development (BICD). Speaking at the event themed “Building Community Resilience Through Professional Auxiliary Social Work,” the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. UPDATE: NIGERIAN LADY ARRESTED IN INDIA FOR STABBING HER BOYFRIEND TO DEATH IN INDIA.{PHOTO}

Image may contain: 2 people             A Nigerian woman residing in India has been arrested by the authorities for stabbing her partner to death.
The lady identified as Evelyn Uzodinma was arrested for killing her boyfriend, a Nigerian named Godfrey Izzu Chibueze.
Evelyn is alleged to have stabbed Godfrey, 30, during a quarrel outside their house in west Delhi on Saturday afternoon (read here).
She, however, rushed him to a hospital but Godfrey died of excessive bleeding. The suspect was taken into custody at the hospital and it was caught on camera.
Chibueze, who ran a garments business, and Evelyn, who operated a food stall, were live-in couples and were known to quarrel often. Investigation revealed that the couple had a fight around 2 p.m. on Saturday before Godfrey’s death. Neighbours also told police they saw the couple fighting and punching each other. According to a police officer, during the fight, the woman picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Chibueze on his left hand, causing him to bleed excessively. Police are awaiting postmortem report for further clarity on Chibueze’s death. Police have registered a case of murder registered against Evelyn.
