Four of the six students abducted from the Lagos Model College, Igbonla, Epe have returned to the school, saying that they were psychologically prepared for their academic pursuits as they were determined to succeed.Speaking with media men, the Principal of the School, Mr. Bajo Olugbenga, said the two others will soon join their colleagues, while identifying the four that resumed on Monday as Agbaosi Judah, Yusuf Faruq, Rahmon Isiaka and Jonah Peter.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Education, Mr. Adesina Odeyemi, who was on an inspection visit to the School, said he was in the school to see how it was progressing after resumption.
He noted that the students have responded well especially in Igbonla, adding that he was positive that more students would resume before the end of the week.
According to him, “None of the six students was forced to return to the school. When the students were rescued, they were given the options of changing their school but they unanimously insisted that they preferred to return to the same school to continue with their education.”
Responding to a question, he said it was usual that it takes about one-week after resumption to have all the students expected in school to resume, exemplifying that the JSS1 students were just getting their needs preparatory to resumption.
Odeyemi said the school security system has been enhanced with two watch towers for surveillance, the perimeter fence has been raised and the compound is well illuminated at night to ensure that anything can be seen from afar.“In addition, there is increased security patrol, alarm system has been installed and the students have been tutored on how to respond and gather when they hear the alarm”, he disclosed.
