 Sudan petitions African Union to overturn suspension Sudan has asked the African Union (AU) to reinstate its full membership and end the country’s suspension from participation in the bloc’s activities. Sudan ambassador’s to Uganda, Ahmed Ibrahim, said that Sudan’s suspension from the African Union had weakened African initiatives aimed at ending the war in the country and enabled external interference. “Accelerating Sudan’s return to the African family would prevent the foreign interference and, at the same time, pave the way for African solutions to African problems,” Ahmed said on Tuesday in remarks at a symposium in Kampala. “We are expecting an effective effort of Uganda as a friendly state, particularly President Yoweri Museveni, as a respected African leader, to support and realise the restoration of Sudan’s activities in the African Union,” he added, TRT Afrika reported.       Last night, Prince Harry attended the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games. Now in the third Invictus Games took place in Toronto, Canada this year – the biggest yet, involving 17 nations.Speaking to competitors in a speech on stage Prince Harry said, ‘I hope you're ready to see courage and determination that will inspire you to power through the challenges in your own life.‘I hope you're ready to see role models in action that any parent will want their children to look up to.’Earlier in the day, Prince Harry held bilateral meetings with David Johnson, The Governor General of Canada, The Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau and the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump.Prince Harry founded the international sporting event in 2014 after a visit in to the US-based Warrior Games. Seeing the amazing affect the competition had on wounded, injured and sick service men and women and their families, Prince Harry was inspired to expand the concept into an international version, involving soldiers from across the world.Over the course of the next week, ex-service personnel will take part in up to 12 different sports. Prince Harry is due to watch all of them.
