Nasir, revealed that the Command was able to effect a total of 103 seizures with a combined DPV of N161,337,003.00 (One Hundred and Sixty One Million, Three Hundred and Thirty Seven Thousand, Three Naira), within the period under review. A Total 39 (Thirty nine) Motor Vehicles with Duty paid value of N83,640,076.00 (Eighty Three Million, Six Hundred and Forty Thousand, Seventy Six Naira Only) were also seized by the Command within the period under review. 23 (Twenty Three) of these Vehicles were arrested in the month of October alone.552 Bags of 50kg (size) foreign Rice, and 1,290 bags of 25kg size foreign rice with Duty Paid Value of N27,988,655.00 (Twenty Seven Million, Nine Hundred and Eighty Eight Thousand, Six Hundred Fifty Five Naira Only) was also seized by the Command. The CAC reported that a total number of 976 Jerry Cans of 25kg Vegetable Oil with a DPV of N13, 977,905.00 (Thirteen Million, Nine Hundred and Seventy Seven Thousand, Nine Hundred and Five Naira) were seized by Officers and men of the Command within the same period. In the Area of revenue generation, the CAC stated that despite the very tight economic situation in Nigeria, the Command was able to record an impressive performance, a Total of N829, 476,030.75 was generated between May 2017 to October 2017, this is against N1,071,434,696.00 generated within the same period in 2016. A critical analysis of these figures will reveal a deficit of 22.6% in 2017. The obvious shortfall in revenue in 2017 can be attributed to the fact that Rice and Motor Vehicles which constitute the backbone of Revenue in Sokoto/Kebbi/Zamfara Area Command were banned from importation through the Land borders and are no longer part of dutiable items to be processed in our land borders which was not the case in 2016.The Controller while addressing the media revealed that the Command has also keyed into the Government efforts on ease of doing business in the country and this is evident in the reduction of checkpoints along the entry points and Also, constant engagement of our counterparts from Benin and Niger on how to move trade in the sub region easily and in a friendly atmosphere.During the briefing, the CAC recognized the efforts of the Command’s Strike force Team led by DSC Yahaya, H. for their hard work and commitment he the urged other Team Leaders to emulate the officer.More photos below.
