 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being. STRAY BULLET KILLS DJ AT A BURIAL OF ONE EVANGELIST IHEMEJE AT ULI,ANAMBRA STATE.{PHOTO}.

         A Disc Jockey (DJ) hired to perform at a burial ceremony in Anambra was reportedly killed by a stray bullet from the gun of a vigilante operative.
The burial ceremony for Evangelist Vitalis Ihemeje was taking place in Alaife Umuaku Uli, in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State and Lotachukwu Nwagboso, a 34-year-old father-of-four, was playing music at the event when he was allegedly killed by one Ibeanozie, who is presently at large.

Nwagboso, from Ndikpo Umuaku Uli, was hit by a stray bullet when the vigilante operative put his gun on his motorcycle while trying to start the bike and the gun went off.Nwagboso died on the spot.
The incident sparked outrage as youths of Ndikpo went on a rampage, destroying property and pulling down houses belonging to the suspect, as well as those of the family that organized the ceremony of their father.The elder brother of the suspect, Ifeanyi Ibeanozie, said they were friends to the bereaved family, hence their commitment to ensure the success of the burial. He insisted that the shooting was not a deliberate act.Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Princess Nkiruka Nwode, confirmed the incident. She called on community leaders to be mindful of the kind of people they appoint as members of the vigilante and implored the people to give the Police information that will help in apprehending the suspect.
