 Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023. EFCC ARRESTED A MAN EARLIER TODAY FOR £30,000 LOVE SCAM.{PHOTOS}.

      The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, arrested one Fidelis Iruedo, a suspected love scammer, for allegedly defrauding a United Kingdom citizen of £30,000 (Thirty Thousand Pounds) in a romance scam. 
Luck ran out of Iruedo, 31, after a petition to the Commission by the Nigerian High Commission, London, on behalf of one Alan Digweed, a UK citizen, alleging that the suspect had defrauded his victim of the said amount of money.Investigations by the EFCC revealed that Iruedo, who voluntarily confessed to the crime, met his victim between July and December 2017, via a date site, match.com. The suspect, while parading as a lady, procured British passport using the name ‘Tracy Anderson’ with which he used to defraud the victim.He was arrested in Abuja, during an attempt to make withdrawal in a bank.On arrest, items recovered from him include: several scam letters, 3 flash drives, 1 iphone and a laptop computer. The suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.One more photo below.
