 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo. ORTOM URGES ARMY TO JUSTIFY CONFIDENCE OF BENUE PEOPLE.{PHOTOS}.


              Governor Samuel Ortom has urged the Nigerian Army to the confidence of Benue People in the armed forces of the country so that they could trust activities of its special troops deployed to the State . 
He made the appeal on Monday when he received the Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai who paid him a courtesy call at the Peoples House, Makurdi, during his visit to the state for the inauguration of the"Ayem Akpatuma".Governor Ortom said the military should inspire the confidence of the over 160, 000 internally displaced persons living in eight camps to return to their ancestral homes.He expressed hope that with the presence of the special military troop, the anti open grazing law and other laws of the land would be obeyed, adding that what Benue people would cooperate to ensure the success of the exercise.Earlier, the Army Chief of Staff, General Buratai stated that "Ayem Akpatuma" was not an operation but an excercise aimed at helping troops to familiarise themselves with the terrain and the various skills required in peace keeping and other military duties.He said the exercise was not targeted at any particular group, and solicited the cooperation of all to succeed.The Army Chief said troops would synergize with other security agencies to ensure that peace was restored to the State.General Buratai who was accompanied by Governor Ortom, his Kogi State counterpart, and other military chiefs inspected a medical outreach organized by the army at the Local Government Education Authority Primary School, Antso and proceeded to flag off the exercise at the LGEA Primary School, Mbabegha near Gbajimba in Guma local government area.More photos below.
