 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. OGUN PARTNERS DFID TOWARDS REPOSITIONING CIVIL SERVICE.{PHOTOS}.

     Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has said his government would collaborate with development partners, the Department for International Development (DFID), towards strengthening and repositioning the Civil Service in the state.Receiving a team of the DFID in his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office, yesterday, Amosun highlighted the importance of the Civil Service to governance and development. 
"We want to review the way we work in the service and embrace world best practices, so as to bring back the glory of the Western region", he stated.The governor reiterated his government's commitment to create a system-driven environment in all the sectors of the economy, where institutions, rather than individuals are developed.Earlier in his remarks, Head of the Department for International Development Regional office, Mr. Robert Watt, thanked the governor for setting up a committee to work with the team towards the success of the reformation plans and strategies in the state.Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Abayomi Sobande and the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Ms. Adenrele Adesina said the state is strengthening the Civil Service to be self sustaining, especially in the areas of training and capacity building, so that the civil servants in the state can compete favourably with their counterparts worldwide. @ Abeokuta.More photos below.
