 The Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, in partnership with the Imo State Government, has officially inaugurated the South East LPG Penetration Programme in Owerri, the state capital. The event marks the completion of the programme’s nationwide rollout across all five geopolitical zones, championing a shift towards universal clean cooking. Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, detailed the ambitious goals of the initiative under the Nigeria Decade of Gas agenda. According to him, the programme aims to transition millions of households away from harmful fuels like firewood, charcoal, and kerosene to cleaner, safer Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). He said that key national targets include the distribution of five million cylinders by 2030, converting one million homes annually, and boosting domestic LPG supply to six million metric tonnes per annum, a move expected to generate significant employment.      Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has said his government would collaborate with development partners, the Department for International Development (DFID), towards strengthening and repositioning the Civil Service in the state.Receiving a team of the DFID in his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office, yesterday, Amosun highlighted the importance of the Civil Service to governance and development. 
"We want to review the way we work in the service and embrace world best practices, so as to bring back the glory of the Western region", he stated.The governor reiterated his government's commitment to create a system-driven environment in all the sectors of the economy, where institutions, rather than individuals are developed.Earlier in his remarks, Head of the Department for International Development Regional office, Mr. Robert Watt, thanked the governor for setting up a committee to work with the team towards the success of the reformation plans and strategies in the state.Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Abayomi Sobande and the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Ms. Adenrele Adesina said the state is strengthening the Civil Service to be self sustaining, especially in the areas of training and capacity building, so that the civil servants in the state can compete favourably with their counterparts worldwide. @ Abeokuta.More photos below.
