 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. OSHODI/ISOLO, AGEGE LG BY-ELECTIONS SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 24.

      The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has scheduled the conduct of Councillorship by-elections into Ward B (Ogunoloko) and Ward B (Dopemu) in Oshodi-Isolo and Agege Local Governments of the State respectively for Saturday, 24th March 2018.
The by-election timetable released by the Commission indicates that political parties are expected to collect Nomination forms on behalf of their candidates between Monday, 5th and Wednesday 7th March 2018 while the forms are to be submitted to the Commission not later than Tuesday, 13th  March 2018.
The register of voters would be displayed at the Ward Collation Centres of the affected Wards on Friday, 9th March 2018 while the list of validated candidates for the elections would be released by the Commission on Wednesday, 21st March 2018.
The Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Justice Ayotunde Phillips has, therefore, enjoined leaders of political parties and other stakeholders in the State to cooperate with the Commission to guarantee a peaceful electoral process devoid of violence, pledging that the Commission would, on its part, ensure that the elections are free, fair and credible.Justice Phillips also urged eligible voters in the affected Wards to obtain their voter’s cards which would enable them to participate in the election exercise to vote for candidates of their choice on election day.She also disclosed that the Commission would convene meetings of stakeholders in the two Wards to discuss issues that will guarantee the peaceful and successful conduct of the by-elections.The conduct of the by-elections in the two Wards is necessitated by the death of the occupants of the two Councillorship seats in the affected Local Governments.
