 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting.      It was reported some days ago how a food seller was left heartbroken after being accused of water from mortuary to cook food at the Federal Polytechnic Oko in Anambra state.
It was gathered that the rumor was circulated in order to tarnish the woman's image.
Fresh reports has it that a philanthropist based in Austria has decided to help the woman popularly known as Nwanyi Nanka.
The philanthropist, Nweke Solomon Chukwudi from Nkanu LG in Enugu State but based in Austria, reached out immediately and contacted Comr. Victor Chinonso the journalist who reported the incident as he donated cash and a bag of rice to the woman.According to Victor, the rumors has further strengthened the resolve of the food seller as she has started cooking four (4) coolers of rice in other to effectively serve all her customers against the three she cooked before.More photos below.
