 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

      Wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, has volunteered a monthly allowance of N500,000 for the next twelve months, for the care of five babies – three boys and two girls – born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Augustine Obiefuna of Orile Iganmu, a suburb of the State.
In her remarks during the visit to the mother at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital in Lagos, the First Lady thanked God for the safe delivery of the infants, expressed joy for the safe delivery and commended their mother for regularly attending her ante-natal sessions in a government hospital.
She urged expectant mothers in the State to shun quacks and self-medication, but to register early and diligently attend ante-natal clinics for standard medical care.
According to her, “You can all see why it is good to register in a government hospital where standard medical care is guaranteed. This woman registered early and regularly attended her ante-natal clinics. The result is that all five babies were safely delivered to the glory of God”.
Mrs. Ambode also presented other welfare packages to the Obiefuna family such as a supply of diapers and baby milk for one year, in addition to two bus-loads of baby essentials like beds, mattresses, diapers, boxes of clothes, socks, pants, caps, etc, donated to other infants at the Lagos Island Maternity.
She commended the entire medical team, especially the Consultant, Dr. Ogungbemile Babalola, for their professional service, stressing that the government would always prioritize healthcare service for expectant mothers, to eradicate maternal and infant mortality in the State.
The First Lady, who later inspected the maternity ward, promised further donations to the hospital, to strengthen maternal and infant service delivery in the hospital.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode also gave an undisclosed sum of money for the care of the babies who weighed an average of 1.5kg.Father of the babies, Mr. Augustine Obiefuna expressed gratitude to the Governor and his wife, for their rare benevolence and generosity, which according to him transcended ethnic and tribal considerations.
He said, “We are surprised that despite being non-indigenes of the State, the Governor and his wife could show us so much love and kindness. They are just wonderful. We never imagined that Her Excellency could personally come here to see our new babies. We cannot stop praying for them and their children, for God’s favour, protection and wisdom at all times.”.The Obiefuna quintuplets are the first set born in the State this year.One more photo below.
