A Kabwe Businessman by the name of Simon Mbulo has admitted shooting dead a police officer (Samuel Tembo) of the anti-robbery sqard in Kabwe this morning around 01:30 hours. According to reports, Mr Mbulo said he used a Brizilian made revolver 38 special to kill a police officer who was also attending a funeral in Kasanda police camp at about 01:49hrs today.
Central province commissioner of police Joel Njase, who confirmed the incident this morning added that, primary information reveals that Detective Sergeant Tembo and Mbulo were very close friends and were attending a funeral of another police officer Boyd Mutale.
“A Revolver 38 special number PE 65569 Brazillian made is alleged to have been used in the act on 19th June 2018 at the funeral house of late Boyd Mutale at kasanda police camp. The suspect has since been arrested and pistol recovered while the body of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary,” reads the statement.
The deceased Tembo is believed to have gone to Mbulo’s vehicle whilst he was sleeping in there and knocked hard, apparently trying to wake him up but the assailant just woke up and shot through the window and hit him. Tembo was thereafter rushed to Kabwe General Hospital – KGH where he was pronounced dead. And when asked why he had to shoot dead his best friend, Mbulo said he thought he was at home and that he thought it was a thief trying to open the door of his bedroom. The photo below is the man that shot the policeman.
