 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. ARMY AVERTS COMMUNAL CLASHES OVER DISPUTED LAND IN GOMBE STATE.{PHOTO}.PRESS RELEASE.

    1. Troops of 301 Artillery Regiment (General Support) averted a communal clash over a disputed land between Biliri and Shongom Local Government Area of Gombe State following a timely intervention.
2. Troops immediately mobilised to the troubled spots on getting the information about the impending crisis.
3. 10 suspects believed to be the masterminds of the trouble were arrested by the troops.
4. Items recovered include;
a. One AK 47 rifle loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition.
b. One G3 rifle loaded with 21 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition.
c. One double barrel gun.
d. 10 locally fabricated guns.
e. 39 cartridges.
f. Three Knives.
g. Four knock out bangers.
h. One round of 9mm ammunition.
i. Bottles of gun powders.
j. Locally fabricated rounds.
k. Assorted charms.
5. Members of the general public is once more reminded to report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security agency for prompt action.
