 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being. EMIR OF DUTSE GIVES KUDOS TO FRSC FOR CRASH-FREE EID-EL-KABIR CELEBRATION IN JIGAWA STATE.{PHOTO}.

    The Emir of Dutse, Alh. (Dr) Mohammed Nuhu Sunusi, CON, has commended the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Jigawa State Sector Command and the Nigeria Police for rising up to the occasion in ensuring crash free Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Dutse Emirate. The Royal father gave the commendation in his remarks at Garu Palace, Dutse, when the Sector Commander, Angus O Ibezim, paid him Sallah homage on Wednesday, 22nd August 2018.

While appreciating the FRSC for providing adequate human and logistics support for effective traffic management during the Sallah celebration in the state, the Royal father. acknowledged the outstanding leadership role of the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, who he described as a wonderful strategist and achiever for his leadership qualities in managing the affairs of the FRSC.
He was full of commendation to the FRSC staff in Jigawa state for the commitment they show in carrying out their duties, saying such comportment was a reflection of the quality leadership of the Corps at the national and state levels. He enjoined the Staff to sustain the commitment for sustained safer road environment even after the celebration.
The Emir called on the Sector Commander to continue to promote the ideals of road safety in the state through sustained vigour in pursuit of public enlightenment programmes for road users at the grassroots levels and for prompt response to crash victims and other emergencies. He further eulogised the Sector Commander for engaging volunteers in some communities within the Emirate that are noted for prevalence of road crashes.
Alhaji Sanusi urges the Sector Commander to ensure that such volunteers are properly trained on how to move crash victims to hospitals, especially in the absence of emergency personnel. He admonished his subjects to always obey traffic rules and regulations and particularly warned the "Okada" riders against speeding and other forms of traffic violation, noting that they are most vulnerable in the event of a crash as exposed road users.
The Emir particularly cautioned owners of domestic animals to be observant while crossing the road with their stocks to avoid the animals roaming uncountably on the streets, thereby posing dangers to motorists.The Sallah celebration in the state capital featured a symbolic royal horse ride by the Emir round Dutse metropolis where he acknowledged pleasantries by his subjects.
