 Lagos hotel, 3 other properties forfeited by drug kingpins auctioned at N6.1billion *- It’s a clear message that cartels won’t be allowed to enjoy proceeds of their criminal trade, says Marwa*  A Lagos hotel and three other properties seized from drug kingpins by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and forfeited to the Federal Government through court processes have been auctioned for the sum of Six Billion One Hundred and Forty- Eight Million Nine Hundred and Sixty-Four Thousand Naira (N6,148,964,000.00) only. This was the outcome of a competitive bid process for the sale of eight assets forfeited by drug barons in parts of the country. While bidders who offered above reserved prices emerged winners of four of the listed properties, bids for four others failed because none offered up to the reserved prices. NBA TO PARTNER WITH EFCC IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION.{PHOTOS}.

    Newly elected executive officers of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Benin Branch have promised to partner with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in the fight against graft.
Chairman of the Association, Prince Collins Ogiegbaen stated this today, August 10, 2018 during a courtesy visit to the Benin Zonal Office of the Commission.
Ogiegbaen who led other executive officers of the association on the visit disclosed that the courtesy visit was to appreciate the EFCC and to further strengthen the existing relationship between the anti-graft agency and the Benin Branch of the NBA. "We cherish the relationship we have with the EFCC and are here to further strengthen that relationship", he said.
He further stated that in his capacity as chairman, he has cautioned his colleagues to desist from all forms of corruption and to be mindful of what they do, "never forge a document for any client. I intend leaving the organisation better than I met it", he stated.
Mailafia Yakubu, Zonal Head, Benin Zonal Office, who received the NBA officers in his office on behalf of the Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, told the lawyers that though the Commission has a zero tolerance for corruption, it abide strictly with the rule of law in the discharge of its duties.
He further stated that lawyers were crucial in the fight against corruption hence the Commission will always solicit for their support. He charged them to always verify any allegations of harassment by their client with the Commission as the EFCC discharges its duties with fairness and civility."Our doors are open so you can always approach us whenever there is any issue to verify or make any enquiry about", he stated.More photos below.
