 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. RE: AMBUSH ATTACK AND LOST OF FOUR (4) POLICEMEN ATTACHED TO THE IGP INTELLIGENCE RESPONSE TEAM IN RIGASA FOREST, KADUNA STATE ON 11th AUGUST, 2018 BY ARMED BANDITS AND KIDNAPPERS
· IGP CONDOLES WITH THE FAMILIES OF THE DECEASED POLICEMEN
· DIRECTS BEFITTING BURIALS FOR THE DECEASED OFFICERS AND PROMPT PROCESSING AND PAYMENTS OF THE LIFE ASSURANCE BENEFITS AND OTHER ENTITLEMENTS TO THEIR FAMILIES
· THE TEAM LEADER AND OTHER PERSONNEL OF THE IGP-IRT REPELLED THE ATTACK AND KILLED SIX (6) OF THE BANDITS AND RECOVERED CATCHES OF FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION
· MASSIVE RAIDS AND ASSAULTS ON THE OTHER BANDITS STILL AT LARGE IN THE RIGASA FOREST ARE ONGOING TO BRING THEM TO JUSTICE.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, NPM, mni, commiserates with the families of the four (4) Policemen who were ambushed and killed in a gun duel on 11th August, 2018 between the IGP Intelligence Response Team Personnel and gangs of armed bandits and kidnappers in Rigasa Forest, Kaduna State while returning after a successful operations that led to the arrest of some vicious/notorious kidnap for ransom suspects responsible for the kidnap of Sheikh Ahmad Adam Algarkawy in Rigasa, Kaduna State who regained his freedom recently. The IGP mourns the unfortunate death of the deceased Police officers and describes them as Heroes of the Force who laid down their lives and paid the supreme price in ensuring protection of lives and property and law and order in the Country.
2. The Team Leader and other personnel of the IGP-IRT repelled the attack and killed six (6) of the bandits but unfortunately lost these four (4) gallant and committed Police officers in the process. Catches of firearms and ammunition were recovered from the bandits’ hideouts in Rigasa forest.
3. The IGP has directed befitting burials for the deceased officers and prompt processing and payments of the life assurance benefits and other entitlements to their families.
The deceased Police Officers are:
i. Inspector Bernard Odibo
ii. Inspector Mamman Abubakar
iii. Inspector Haruna Ibrahim
iv. Sergeant Emmanuel Istifanus
4. Meanwhile, a massive raids and assaults on the other bandits still at large in the Rigasa Forest are ongoing to bring them to justice.
5. The Nigeria Police Force despite this unfortunate attack and killing of these Policemen will not relent in ensuring that crimes and criminalities are brought to the barest in the country.
