 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. ARMY NEUTRALIZE ARMED ROBBERS IN BENUE TODAY.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE

     Just In: Gallant Troops of Operation ZENDA Neutralize Armed Robbers in Benue State. At about 3.30 am this morning 30 Sep 18, troops of Operation ZENDA on mobile patrol engaged a group of armed robbers in a shoot out along OTUKPO - APA- OTUKPA highway. 
During a search of the area at dawn one of the Robbers kitted in military camouflage was found dead. A locally made revolver and 2 cartridges were also recovered. Troops are still searching the bushes along the area for others who may have escaped with gunshot wounds. Meanwhile,the COAS Lt Gen TY Buratai has commended the troops and urged them not to relent in their efforts towards making Benue State free from all forms of criminality.One more photo below.
