 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta.     Governor Samuel Ortom has stated that those conniving with enemies of the state to execute clandestine agenda will always be put to shame.
He spoke today at Chihichan, Mbakume in Gwer-East local government area during the burial of late David Upuu, elder brother to the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Internal Affairs, Mr. Boniface Nyaakor.
According to him, those plotting evil against his administration would always come behind, stressing that prayers from the church had helped in saving democracy from its enemies in the state.
The Governor stated that attacks on Benue communities by militia herdsmen had only subsided due to the presence of Operation Whirl Stroke, noting that some security agents were killed recently by the marauders.
He revealed that from January to August 2018, close to 50 security operatives had fallen prey to activities of militia herdsmen.
While condoling the bereaved family over the unfortunate incidence, Governor Ortom prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Internal Affairs, Mr. Boniface Nyaakor on behalf of the family, expressed appreciation to Governor Ortom for standing by them in their time of grief.
In a funeral mass, Reverend Fr. Peter Pareghve charged Christians to prepare for the day of judgment, describing death as inevitable.More photos below.
