 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta.         The Port Harcourt's Zonal Head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa has disclosed that the task of checking vote buying in our electoral system was a collective responsibility. He stated this on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while speaking on a Radio Program.
Bawa, who featured on "Security Watch", an interactive and audience- participatory program on Wave 91.7 F.M, stressed that, every patriotic Nigerian, law enforcement agencies, civil Society groups and other pressure groups must embrace the public awareness campaign of the EFCC against vote buying.
"We must all be part of the campaign against vote buying. Any law enforcement agent can arrest anyone buying or selling votes and send the fellow to the EFCC for prosecution. The President has said it times without number that if we don't kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria. So, we should all discourage vote buying because it is an electoral fraud.
He stated further that "what the EFCC is doing in its campaign against vote buying may appear intangible at the moment but when the results begin to come out, the nation will appreciate the efforts of the Commission".
