CJN Bans Lawyers, Court Officials to Stop Using ‘Barrister’ as Official Title The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has directed lawyers, court officials and other legal personnel to discontinue the use of “Barrister” as a prefix to their names in all official engagements at the Supreme Court. The directive was contained in a memorandum dated July 13, 2026, and signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi. The circular, which was addressed to litigation staff, legal practitioners, court registrars and lawyers, stated that the directive took immediate effect and was aimed at upholding professional standards within the apex court.      Governor Samuel Ortom has appreciated the security agencies for the impressive parade mounted in his honour as part of activities lined up for his inauguration today at the IBB Square Makurdi.
The Governor who stated this after inspecting the parade commended the Nigerian Police for being professional in their conduct even when the state was confronted with security challenges.
He also commended sister security agencies for their enormous contributions to the restoration of peace in the state, saying they had done their best in combating criminality and killings in the Food Basket State.
He sympathized with families of fallen heroes who died in the course of defending the state, even as he ordered for the observation of a one minute silence in their honour.
The Governor also prayed God to grant the fallen heroes eternal rest.More photos below.
