 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. FINAL YEAR STUDENT SHOT DEAD YESTERDAY IMMEDIATELY AFTER HIS FINAL YEAR EXAMINATION IN CROSS RIVERS.{GRAPHIC PHOTOS}.

     A Final year student of the Cross Rivers University of Technology CRUTECH, was shot dead yesterday morning at about 11.30am shortly after he finished his final year first semester examination.
He was said to have been stepping out of the examination hall when he was accosted by some fierce looking men who shot him at close range. The men fled the scene immediately.
Students of the institution believe it is a cult-related murder.

The remains of the deceased has been taken to the state mortuary. According to another source ''It was a shocking moment when a final year student of the Cross Rivers University of Technology (CRUTECH) was shot dead Monday morning at about 11.30am shortly after he finished his final year first semester examination.
The Final year Engineering student has been identified as James Chia. He was shot to death by suspected cultists belonging to a rival group on Monday afternoon.
James was reportedly a popular student known as ‘Jay’ Real on Facebook. He hailed from Abi Local Government, but grew up in Ogoja, Cross River.He was a 500-level student of Engineering in the Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH, Calabar Campus.More photos below.
