  A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times. Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.  Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.  A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous. GOV. FAYEMI DISTRIBUTES TEACHING AIDS TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN EKITI STATE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday took another step towards the actualisation of his administration’s education and human capital development agenda by distributing instructional materials to public schools in the State.
At a colourful event held within the premises of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on Okesa Street, Ado-Ekiti, the Governor, who was represented by Commissioner for Education, Evangelist Foluso Daramola, described the distribution as a demonstration of government’s commitment to ensuring qualitative education at all levels.
According to him, the distribution of text books, library resource materials and other instructional materials jointly provided by the State Government and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) was meant to strengthen teaching and learning in public schools across the State.
In his own goodwill message, the Chairman of the State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Ekiti State, Mr. S.O Olugbesan, extolled the Governor for his laudable programmes in all facets in the State, particularly, the education sector. He said 65 million naira was released at the last JAAC meeting for the payment of leave bonus of primary school teachers, totalling 95 million naira released so far.
This distribution is coming barely three months after the Governor flagged off distribution of teaching aids to public schools in Ekiti State. The beneficiaries are pupils in the basic education level – primary and junior secondary schools.
