 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. He explained that the vehicles will be deployed exclusively to security operatives providing cover for construction teams along the section of the super highway passing through Kebbi State.       PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
In response to the frequency of reported cases of Gender-based violence and sexual abuse, the Government of Ekiti State has today begun the publication of the names and photographs of convicted sex offenders in the State.
This is part of the proactive measures deployed by the State Government to rid Ekiti State of all forms of violence against Women and Children.
Today, the Ministry of Justice under the leadership of AG Wale Fapohunda commenced with a Public Notice on the status of Reverend Asateru Gabriel, a former Anglican priest who was convicted for the Sexual Abuse of a seven-year old girl.
Reverend Gabriel is currently serving a five-year prison sentence in Federal Prisons, Ado Ekiti.
Other additional measures to curb Sexual Violence in the State include:
i. Pasting the Photographs of convicted sex offenders in prominent public spaces in their communities and their Local Government Headquarters;
ii. Public notification of the status of convicted sex offenders by showing their photographs on Ekiti State Broadcasting Service and announcing their names on Radio Stations in the State
iii. Issuing an advisory to the traditional ruler of the sex offender’s community on the status of the offender;
iv. Uploading the Sex Offenders photograph on the website of the Ministry of Justice.
v. Compulsory psychiatric tests for all Persons of whom the Director of Public Prosecution (D.P.P) has issued ‘a case to answer’ legal opinion for the offence of Child defilement.
