 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. OGUN TO LAUNCH "ADOPT A SCHOOL OR ADOPT A HEALTH CENTRE" SCHEME.[PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

       A scheme, to be known as "Adopt a School or Adopt a Primary Health Centre," will soon be launched in Ogun State to encourage the organised private sector to support the rehabilitation of Primary Schools and Primary Health Centres across the State.
The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who disclosed this when he received in his office in Abeokuta, the management of Great Nigeria Insurance PLC, led by the Group Managing Director, Mrs. Cecilia Osipitan, said his administration places premium on the health and education of the people and would need assistance in realising the objectives.
"We will soon launch a scheme that will be targeted at encouraging members of the organised private sector to support us in the rehabilitation of schools and Primary Health Centres and will be tagged 'Adopt a School or Adopt a Primary Health Centre'.
"I am sure that industries and companies here in Ogun State are made of stuff that would want to utilise their Corporate Social Responsibilities in the area of supporting the government, particularly the needy that live with us in the society," he said.
The Goverrnor, who lauded the company for redeeming its pledge during the launch of the State Security Trust Fund, said "this is the kind of Public-Private Partnership that we encourage, not those that just come to our State and make requests, but those that consider that this union should be complementary with values added on both sides.
"Great Nigeria Insurance PLC has committed to that as well and we are very happy to have them as worthy partners," he noted.
He said government had embarked on the rehabilitation of Primary Schools and Primary Health Centres in each of the 236 Wards in the State, expressing the hope that the Insurance firm and other Corporate Organisations, would assist in this regard.
Fielding questions from newsmen after the visit, the Group Managing Director of the company, Mrs. Cecilia Osipitan, said the company decided to identify with the administration as a result of its laudable programmes and to showcase the company's initiatives which could add value to the government.More photos below.
