 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. One of the four kidnapped Students of Good Shepherd Major Seminary, Kaduna has been released by the Kidnappers.
He was said to have been released and dumped along Kaduna-Abuja highways Saturday night where he was said to have been given helping hands by Good Samaritans and taken to the school authority.
One of the catholic priests in Kaduna city while telling the congregation after the homily on Sunday to pray for the safety and freedom of the embattled students, announced that, “We are happy to hear that one of the Seminarians has been released. He was dumped along Kaduna-Abuja highways, and occasionally, he was falling into coma. We pray that God will touch the hearts of the Kidnappers and release the remaining three. Keep on praying the Rosary for them”.It would be recalled that the four Seminarians were abducted from their hostel in the Seminary on January 8 at about 10:30pm when the Kidnappers were said to have forced their way into the Seminary after shooting and damaging of doors and keys to gain entrance into the hostels.
The Archbishop of Kaduna Catholic Archdiocese, Bishop Matthew Man’oso Ndagoso had earlier on Friday said that in order not to jeopardise the lives of the kidnapped students, embargo has been placed not to disclose whatever amount the Kidnappers were demanding as ransom.
“We have streamlined discussion with the Kidnappers, it is only one person that is communicating with them, we can’t disclose any discussion with them”. He said.
