 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. GOV. ABIODUN ISS SET TO INAUGURATE ELDERS ADVISORY COUNCIL ON THURSDAY.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

    The Ogun State Governor will on Thursday inaugurate an Elders’ Advisory Council at the Obas Complex inside the State Secretariat in Abeokuta by 2pm.
The Governor said the composition of the Council was part of the Government’s desire to tap from the fountain of wisdom of the elderly in our society and to give the state the benefit of the knowledge garnered over the years by these statesmen and women.
“It is in order to walk the talk about our commitment to inclusive and participatory governance that we are doing this. We stand to benefit from these elders in our midst”, a statement issued by Abidoun spokesman, Kunle Somorin said.
The newly constituted Governors’ Elders Advisory Council (GEAC) comprises of critical stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and outside the main political parties in the State.
Members of the Council include statesmen and women who have the requisite governance, business and political experiences necessary to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, the statement added.
