 Australian police say Islamic State inspired Bondi Beach mass shooting  Australian authorities have declared that the mass shooting which killed 15 people during a Hanukkah celebration at Sydney’s Bondi Beach was a terrorist attack inspired by the Islamic State group. Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett said investigators reached that conclusion based on evidence recovered during the investigation. Officials identified the suspects as a father and son, aged 50 and 24. The older man, Sajid Akram, was shot and killed by police at the scene, while his son remains hospitalized under guard. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said investigators found Islamic State flags inside a vehicle linked to the attackers, reinforcing concerns that the violence was ideologically motivated. Of the dozens wounded in the attack, 25 people remain hospitalized, including 10 in critical condition. Three of the injured are children receiving care at a pediatric hospital.      Brent has officially been named the 2020 London Borough of Culture. 
Today, The Duchess of Cornwall joined residents to celebrate the borough’s new status.
This year Brent surpassed 21 other London Boroughs to win the £1 million funding, enabling them to stage a year-long programme of cultural events and initiatives.
At The Granville Centre in Kilburn, The Duchess met community volunteers and learnt about the co-working and event space on offer. The centre supports the local community with access to low cost fitness activities, workspaces, and business support.
Next, Her Royal Highness visited the recently renovated Kiln Theatre. The Duchess met young people turning their passions into projects as part of ‘The Agency’ project. Young people have been encouraged to apply for funding to help drive positive change in the community.More photos below.
