 IMO STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE OF 6TH DECEMBER, 2025 IMO POLICE COMMAND INTENSIFY CRACKDOWN ON KIDNAPPING, VIOLENT CRIMES ALONG OWERRI–ABA EXPRESSWAY As part of ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes along the Owerri–Aba Expressway, a high-powered team led by the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma on Saturday, 6th December, 2025, inspected suspected kidnappers hideouts in Umuhu Autonomous Community in Ngor-Okpala following credible intelligence on Stanley Morocco Oparaugo, currently at large. The delegation included the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Chioma Egu; Chief Pathologist, Imo State Specialist Hospital, Dr. Ibeaja Okechukwu; members of the Ngor Okpala Vigilante Group led by Mr. Henry Ikpe; and the Chairman of Ngor Okpala LGA, Hon. FORMER ZAMFARA GOVERNOR, YARI, ARRESTED, QUIZZED FOR SIX HOURS BY THE NIGERIA POLICE.{PHOTO}.

Following his unguarded utterances full of incitement and threat to peace in Zamfara State, former Governor Abdulazeez Yari was yesterday, arrested and quizzed by the Nigeria Police in Abuja for six hours.

An Impeccable source who spoke to our correspondent in Abuja said the former Governor, who looked visibly rattled, was subjected to six hour query over his utterances which were reported by many online media, where he made inciting statements inimical to the peace attained in Zamfara State.

"Between 11 am and 5pm, the former Governor was brought to the Force headquarters and vigorously drilled over his reported utterances he made a few days back during a meeting held in his home village of Talata-Mafara in Zamfara State", our source revealed.

It would be recalled that the former Governor, following alleged desperate attempts to overtly subvert the road map to peace in the state, openly called his supporters to confront authorities in their lawful duties in the state.

Other offences by the former Governor as reported in the media included his alleged plan to sponsor proscribed vigilante groups in the state to attack Fulani settlements with the aim of breaching the hard earned peace in the state.

"The popular belief in Zamfara State is that the former Governor is bent on doing anything, regardless of its consequences, to portray the present administration of Governor Bello Matawalle as a failure", our source revealed.

When our correspondent sought the opinions of some indegenes of Zamfara State over the arrest, they praised the Nigeria Police for an action well taken. "With the peace we have attained in our state under the present administration of Bello Matawalle, we are very much disturbed with the reported plans of the former Governor which could wind the hands of the clock backwards", said a respondent who hailed from Gummi local Government area of the state.

"We commend the Nigeria Police for this bold action and urge other security operatives in the country to be so decisive in order to safeguard our hard earned peace in the state.
