 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. OGUN STATE GOVERNMENT RESTATES SUPPORT FOR COTTON FARMERS.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.


     The National Cotton Association of Nigeria (NACOTAN) has been assured of Government’s support in improving the productivity of Cotton Farmers and all Actors in the Cotton Value Chain in Ogun State.
The Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun, MFR, made this disclosure at the Official Flag off of the Recovery of Cotton Outputs for Anchors for the 2019 Planting Season, in Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area.
Governor Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina, hinted that Government recognised the employment generation potentials of Cotton enterprises and the importance of sustaining the need for raw materials by textile and allied industries.
"We will support smallholder farmers to raise their yield through deliberate extension services in the Anchor Borrowers Programme under our watch", he said.
He expressed Government’s tireless resolve to continue to link farmers in the State with industrial process, as part of National effort to reduce imports and encourage exports, while at the same time, providing employment.
He further stated that the State has earmarked 10,000hectares of land for Cotton production, and advised the State Cotton Growers Association to speed up the process of completing their documentation with CBN and other Anchors, for this year’s growing season under Ogun State Government facilitated Anchor Borrowers Programme.
In their separate remarks, the Branch Controller of CBN Abeokuta, Wahab Osenu and State Chairman of NACOTAN, Shola Osasona appreciated Government effort targeted at linking farmers to credit, input, mechanization and assured markets.
The Event culminated with the flag off of Recovery of Harvested Cotton to Anchors by the Cotton Farmers in Ogun State.
Other dignitaries at the flag off were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agric, Dr. Dotun Sorunke, Directors in the Ministry as well as stakeholders in the Cotton industry.More photos below.
