 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. BATCH "A" CORPS MEMBERS THANK OGUN GOVERNOR.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

    Members of the NYSC Batch "A" have expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his role in providing a conducive environment for their year-long service.
The corps members, who visited the Governor in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta after their Passing Out Parade (POP) yesterday, were in company with the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Dr Belinda Faniyi and other top officials of the Corps in the State.
The corps members thanked Governor Abiodun for the genuine love he showed both the Corps and its members during their one-year service, particularly as he saw to improving the living conditions of the NYSC Camp in the State.
Earlier, the State had officially commended the two corps members for their selfless contributions to community development.More photos below.
