 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

COVID-19: LAGOS DEPLOYS FUMIGATION EQUIPMENT TO LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCILS.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The fight against the spread of the COVID-19 across the State recently received a boost when the Lagos State government deployed equipment to all the 57 LG/LCDAs for sanitation and disinfection of public spaces and surfaces such as markets and bus stops, among others.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Dr. Wale Ahmed, who spoke during the deployment of the equipment to all the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas, urged the leadership to complement the efforts of the State Government in making the entire metropolis safe and secure.
He called on Conference 57, comprising all the Local Council Chairmen, to sustain the sanitation exercise, stressing that the State Government is aggressive in its attempt to combat the pandemic and reminding them of the need to take up the responsibility of ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Mr. Mojeed Balogun commended the State Government for the kind gesture and for rolling out different precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In the same vein, the Chairman of Mainland Local Government Council, Mrs. Omolola Essien, who is also the Chairman of Conference 57, thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu for deploying the equipment to all the Local Government Councils and for the proactive manner of addressing the COVID-19 issue.
Receiving the equipment at Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, the Chairman of the Council, Princess Abolanle Samiat Bada, said that Council officials will commence the sanitation exercise immediately, adding that the equipment would expand the reach of the exercise to all public spaces in the area.
